Permit proof normally starts at €9,600 for one year, plus tuition if due. (Check the permit route if required, apply for a first residence permit abroad after you have a qualifying study place.)

Language is a gate
English-taught VET programmes can offer an accessible starting point for international students. Learning Finnish or Swedish alongside your studies can help you participate more confidently in everyday life, communicate during workplace training and build stronger connections with employers and the local community.

Work is not a plan
A study permit allows paid work averaging 30 hours per week, but finding a job can be hard without Finnish or Swedish. Treat work as experience not your funding foundation.

After study is a new file
Graduation can open routes to a job, business activity or a permit to look for work/start a business, provided the conditions are met. It is not automatic.
